My friends are full of win
    I have awesome friends,family and in particularly bridesmaids (that'd be [info]devoken, [info]shprintzah and [info]pinkalicat).
I just got back from the lovely afternoon tea bridal shower I was thrown at the Concord Colonial Inn. It was perfect with a crazy pink and white tea hat provided to me by [info]pinkalicat, scones, clotted cream, lovely chocolate things and fabulous company. Also my party caused [info]hfcougar to have to rip off her pants. All in all an excellent day.

    Wedding update
All the bridesmaids' dresses have now arrived, the flower girl dresses arrived last week. One ascot has been made with 4 left, the sashes and ribbons for the flower girls and my sash still left to go (though thankfully [info]rufinia is handling my sash). Cake tasting is next week and things are fairly on track, though our cruise just changed its itinerary so we'll see what kind of to-do that turns out to be.

[info]rufinia kindly banished my cramps for me. Somewhat after and without taking any pain meds my cramps decreased, obviously due to banishment by Red. Thus this post in praise of her power.

    DRESS!
My wedding dress arrived yesterday, it is wrinkled from shipping, but it fits very well (the sleeves need adjusting but that's it). I need to get a petticoat of appropriate poofiness to make the petal skirt look right and try it on with the right underthings, etc but it's here! My dress is here.

    Well that was unexpected...
(Points for getting the movie the title is quoted from)

I am on a rotation with 24/7 coverage. The two other students on are 4th years with severe senioritis, so expected to be on-call all weekend. I hoped to get either May Day or cinco de mayo party off, instead I have no weekend on-call. I get to go to both. Am VERY pleased! *bounce bounce*

Spring Break and Weeknd- in review
I had a very nice and quiet Spring Break. It started out with my white coat ceremony last Friday which was fun as well as a mile stone. Since i told my mom she needn't bring me flowers she instead brought me 3 assorted flours. I now have 2lbs each pastry, wheat and organic unbleached white. Will need to find time to bake.

After the ceremony we went to dinner at Stone's Public House in Ashland. It was lovely. The building is from the 1800s and is supposedly haunted (though I didn't have time to read the story). There is a cozy pub half and a somewhat more elegant dinning room which we had to ourselves the first half hour or so. The food is what my parents call "haut comfort". Classic comfort food done really well. I had roasted chicken with grilled asparagus over mushroom risotto. It was just wonderful, though huge (it was half a chicken). I highly recommend it and can't wait for en excuse to go back.

After dinner C. went home and cared for the cats while my parents and I went on to the Gordon Bok show. It was lovely, though he's obviously getting old and forgets words to songs in the middle and has to pause. Despite being a life long fan and owner of many of his albums I only knew 3 songs in the whole show. I very nearly passed out as it was warm and I was full and he started in on "Isle Au Haut Lullaby", which my mom often used to put us to sleep as children. All in all it was a wonderful time.

We relaxed and did some around the house work over the weekend, with a break for [info]tpau's birthday party on Saturday. The party was much fun.

During the week I leisurely tackled a large to-do list, including finishing an apron for my mother and starting a quilt for the cousin of C.'s that just announced her pregnancy. Also cleaned the house, saw the dentist and eye doctor and various other things that needed doing. Also found time to read a book.

On Monday I met up with [info]rufinia and finally saw Juno. It was excellent and we had a lovely chat over ice cream afterwards. The ice cream was supposed to be coffee, but Starbucks decided that it was closed even though it's sign said it was open for another hour.

Wednesday I had dinner and watched Stardust with all my bridesmaids except [info]devoken who was unable to make it, but was missed. The movie loses nothing it's 5th time around and having a silly girl's night is still a great way to spend an evening.

Yesterday was spent at my parents assembling our wedding invites (we're doing our own and putting them together was quite a task), which was followed by dinner at Blue in Needham (also a recommend source of good quality comfort food).

Today was C. and my 5 year dating anniversary and to celebrate he finally took me to see Blue Man Group (he'd planned to our first anniversary but had not tried to get tickets enough in advance). I had never been and I had an absolutely fabulous time. I highly recommend it as a fun time out. After the show I took C. to dinner at McCormick's and Schmick's, below the Park Plaza hotel. The food was really good and I love that they tell you where the Seafood is from and what is fresh that day. The service was unfortunately subpar, but I'd be willing to try again, as it may have just been our server. It was a really nice night out and a good way to wrap up a productive, yet relaxing week.

    Bok concert and other things
There will be a Gordon Bok concert this Friday in Framingham http://www.amazingthings.org/eventslist.asp which is good because my parents and i want to go together and it makes a great way to celebrate after my white coat ceremony (besides dinner at P.F. Chang's).

I'm getting coated on Friday and it's beginning to hit home that I'm all done with the prep work and will be touching Real Live Animals in about a week and a half and I will be expected to know things. I am seriously beginning to freak out about this, which I believe will go away once I'm actually in clinics but at the moment OH MY GOD! I'M SUPPOSED TO KNOW VET THINGS AND FORM TREATMENT PLANS! WHAT IDIOT DECIDEDTHAT I MIGHT POSSIBLY BE COMPTENT?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm gonna go watch T.V. and stress for a bit, I'll be better soon (fingers crossed).

    Life Lessons
So this morning I learned that it is fair near impossible to sleep in when a cat is chasing her own tail all over you and the bed (with occasional attacks to my feet when they got uppity).

The tail lost, but she and my feet are currently at an uneasy truce.

So *this* is what being done feels like...
I took my last exam today. An intrepid (and somewhat drunk at the time) classmate of mine went back and counted, this was the 82nd in-class written exam we've taken since starting vet school in early fall of 2005. That does not include many online and take home exams and quizzes or written assignments.

For those who did not know, that is a lot of damn exams. And now it's over, cause I'm done.

    End in sight
Last two hours of lecture done with today. USDA required core, had to attend or I'll have trouble getting accreditation from the USDA after I graduate. Since I need to be accredited to write health certificates and such it seemed a poor plan to skip despite needing to study.

I have an exam Friday, one Monday and then a few days of random optional hands-on classes I signed up for and finally hospital orientation. After that I have Spring Break and then clinics start, it's all just around the corner... if I can bring myself to read 100 pages of Equine Musculoskeletal stuff.

Fever up to 102.2. Despite taking a benedryl to aid sleep I can't seem to get more than 2 hours at a time. Raging headache + muscle pain + C.'s snoring = exhausted but awake.

    Blah
I need to write a paper for economics and study for the final in that class this Monday. I also have the flu and a social commitments both Saturday and Sunday. I need another 24 hours so I can sleep off the sick and figure out the damn paper. For now I'm gonna be grumpy and watch bad T.V.

    Book loan
A while back I offered to loan someone my Unitarian Universalist Pocket Guide and 100 questions Non-members Ask About Unitarian universalism and the person said they'd like to borrow them, but I can't remember who it was. I think the person was female, but that's all i can remember. If it was you let me know so I can actually get them to you.

    Asian Pecan Recipe
So at the New Year's Eve party I made my mom's Asian Toasted Pecans (with sesame seeds). They were quite well received so I shall post the recipe.

    New Year's
New Year's Eve party was lovely. We had lots of friends and a wonderful time was had. At around 2:30 am the last of the friends left. At 2:45am, as we were finishing clean up my pager went off. I got back home at 7:40am and got up again at 11:30am to go to a wonderful brunch. Family coming for dinner soon and I'm trying to be awake enough to boil lasagna noodles.

Help Animals While Christmas Shopping- Cost to you =$0
I don't normally post this kind of thing, but I thought it was an easy way to do some good, especially at the very consumer time of year. There is a charity called Bring Pets Home, that is completely corporately sponsored. They help support animal shelters across the country. To support them all you have to do is go here http://www.bringpetshome.org/shop.aspx?cat_id=0?id=EMC-Legacy&Campaign_Code=&Type=et&SubscriberId=12599430&Account=49697&Coupon_Code=%%LinkName_%%
and then click on the link to a store site you were going to shop at anyway (lots and lots of store listed). A certain percentage of what you spend (varies by store and is listed) goes to support shelters. If you want to, you can register with Bring Pets Home and designate which shelters get the money from your purchases. That's it. so while you are doing online shopping, stop and see if you can help a homeless animal with your purchase.

    Enchanted
Saw Enchanted last night. much better than it should have been, possible due to the company I saw it with ([info]devoken and [info]shprintzah). I'm placing a cut in case anyone is really concerned about plot issues but it will just have a great quote with little plot giveways behind it.

Is that my cat in your stola or are you just happy to see me?
I just spent the last half hour searching everywhere for Ozy. He wasn't in his normal hiding spots, and wasn't coming out for treats. I was getting quite concerned and a bit panicky and had finally enlisted [info]laurion 's help in the search.

I just now found him completely hidden and entangled in the stola that [info]rufinia lent me for a party awhile back. He had apparently given up trying to get out and was just happily resting and waiting. I had been wondering why Tica had been sitting on it looking so self-satisfied earlier this evening. Now I guess I know, she'd done trapped herself an Ozy.
